Where does the festival take place?

Women in Focus is a public festival that takes place throughout Poplar Union; some events will be held in our studio (Betty), or our smaller room (Mike). Others events will take place in the Library area next to the café, so there will be members of the public using this area alongside the event taking place.

Do I need to pre-book tickets?

We advise pre-booking your free ticket for the events you’d like to attend to secure your place as some events have a limited capacity.  You can book tickets via our website

If an event is fully booked, please do contact us to let us know you are interested in attending and we can add you to a waiting list. The waiting list will work on a first come first served basis if any tickets are returned.

Women in Focus Festival is free to attend, however donations will be taken at the door which will go towards helping fund the festival.

What if I’m running late?

Please arrive no later than 15 minutes before the event you are attending is scheduled to start, and sign in at the box office upon arrival.

Please let us know if you are running late for a session you have booked onto so we can hold your place. If a session is sold out, and you have not arrived, we will release your ticket after 10 minutes of the workshop/event beginning to allow those on the waiting list to join on a first come first come served basis.

Is your venue an accessible venue?

Poplar Union is a fully accessible venue with wheelchair access, accessible parking bays and bathrooms. We also have a hearing loop in the main studio (Betty).

There is a pedestrian pathway from the corner of Cotall Street. on Upper North Street. that will bring you straight to the entrance. There is also a pathway from Lindfield St. Alternatively, you can enter the building through our Cotall Street entrance if you approach Poplar Union via Stainsby Road.

Do you have a cloakroom?
