Cultivating Connection: The Body as a Compass with Mike Simon
We recognise that there aren’t enough low-cost, supportive spaces for black, brown and global majority artists to meet each other and nourish their practices. This event series seeks to create a regular opportunity to gather and think about artists’ collective and individual needs.
At each event a different artist or arts worker offers an insight into their practice with a low-key workshop – whether through movement, poetry, or discussion. There will also be open time for socialising, with free food and a donation bar.
These events are open to anyone who considers themselves an artist, performer, or maker – whether professional, aspiring or hobbyist. They are specifically held for people who experience racism, and staffed by people with those lived experiences.
Cultivating A Deeper Connection With Self: The Body As A Compass
An experiential group experience where you’ll be invited to befriend your body and all it’s intelligence through gentle somatic practices, mindful journaling, and intuitive movement.
You’ll be held and guided to attune to your body’s inner wisdom, gaining inspiration and insight to:
– Gain clarity of your life’s work and vision
– Overcome limiting inner beliefs holding you back from designing and actualising the life you want (and deserve)
– Cultivate a deeper sense of self-awareness to navigate life not only from your head, but your heart
– Develop self-reflective and nourishing practices to support you through life (and the inevitable challenges)
– Micro-coaching moments
No prior experience with movement is necessary. All that is asked of you is to bring yourself, a pen, a notepad, and an open heart.
About the workshop leader
