SÚPERNOVAE & FRIENDS are back SATURDAY 13TH JULY at POPLAR UNION, to bring to you an evening of Brazilian inspired music from the most powerful lineup of artists!

All proceeds from this fundraiser event goes towards the impact of the flood in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Special guest BAQUE LUAR.

Get ready for the roof-raising percussion and vocal harmonies of BAQUE LUAR; experience the raw energy of punk with the vibrant rhythms of AfroBrazilian roots music with SÚPERNOVAE; taste the uprising activism through the protest music of LULA VALOIS; dance to Brazilian inspired house and funky tech house with DJ KITCHY, and let your imagination flow to the electronic sounds of M4GNUS.

BAQUE LUAR is a London-based collective of female and non-binary vocalists and percussionists, drawing inspiration from the rich soundscapes and traditions of maracatu, coco, bumba meu boi, tambores de Minas, and ciranda as well as sacred rhythms of Brazilian Candomblé. Baque Luar combines original multivocal compositions and arrangements with powerful percussive grooves.Their music focuses on honouring feminine power and creativity, acknowledging struggles against oppression and praising nature at this critical ecological moment.

SÚPERNOVAE combines the raw energy of punk with the vibrant rhythms of AfroBrazilian roots music. A blend of cultures and influences reflecting the diversity of the band, formed in 2023 and based in London, UK. A politically conscious band, channeling passion for social justice into their music, transcending boundaries and uniting people. Their songs address themes such us racial discrimination, political corruption and social inequality, often underscoring the connections between personal experience and political structures.Musically, the band uses a range of traditional Brazilian instruments like surdos, alfaia, gonguê, and xequerê combined with guitar, bass and drum kit.

LULA VALOIS is a Brazilian activist, singer and songwriter living in London. His music project GOOD DAY FOR A REVOLUTION (Good Day FAR) is a wake up call for uprising against injustice and joining this vibrant afro-brazilian rebel music movement.

Rio Grande do Sul is experiencing the consequences of the largest flood in its history, and one of the greatest climate tragedies in Brazil. The floods have caused severe impacts in over 460 cities – approximately 95% of the state – and directly affected over 2 million people.
