Join us for a special evening of delicious food and meaningful conversations at Poplar Union. Our event will take place on Sat Mar 16 2024 starting at 17:00 GMT.

The Green Deen Tribe, Poplar Union, and Sustainably Muslim with Two Billion Strong invite you to join us for the annual Ethical Iftar.

The blessed month of Ramadan is a time of sacrifice, deep reflection and deepening our connection to our faith and spirituality for Muslims around the world. It is also a time of community with prayer and sharing of meals playing an important role throughout the month. At the same time, we often witness an increase in the use of disposable plastics, food wastage and a doubling of meat in our diet. These habits are not only contributing to the environmental crisis but also contradict our role as stewards of the Earth, having a detrimental impact on our spirituality.

This year as we invite you to join us for our annual communal Iftar, ‘breaking of the fast’, with inspiring talks and practical advice on ways you can reduce your meat consumption, food waste and plastic use throughout the month of Ramadan.

A three-course vegetarian meal will be served with the communal evening prayer. 

Doors will be open at 5 pm, open to people of all faiths.
