Drums from Around the World — FREE Brazilian drumming sessions
This free 10-week drumming programme introduces participants to the vibrant world of Brazilian rhythms. Led by SúperNovae’s Keryl Brown and Ioanna Marathefti, attendees will explore traditional percussion patterns and learn to incorporate them into their own musical practice. The sessions cover styles such as samba reggae, samba afro, and funk, blending cultural heritage with contemporary music.
What to expect
The programme includes two sessions: a family session for children aged 5-11 (with parental support) and an independent session for ages 15 and up. Participants will gain a solid foundation in Brazilian percussion and an appreciation for its cultural significance.
Dates and Times (for April):
- April 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th
Two sessions each day:
- 12.15pm–1.45pm (Family session with children 5-11 years old)
- 1.45pm–3.15pm (Independent session for ages 15+)
