Children’s Creative Workshop – Lotus Lantern Making
Ages 5–15. All materials will be provided.
Join ARTscape for a colourful lotus lantern-making workshop inspired by Vesak. Children will create their own lanterns using layered tissue paper, string and tea lights.
This workshop explores colour, shape and light while introducing the symbolism of the lotus as a sign of peace, growth and new beginnings.
All materials are provided and no experience is necessary.
Parental/carer supervision is required throughout.
What to Expect:
- Guided lantern-making activity
- Use of tissue paper, card and simple assembly techniques
- Introduction to Vesak and the symbolism of the lotus
- A supportive and inclusive creative space
- A handmade lantern to take home
Important Information:
Do parents need to stay?
Yes. This is a supervised workshop and children must be accompanied at all times.
Are there small parts involved?
Some small components (e.g. string, decorative elements) may be used and require supervision.
Will tools be used?
Basic crafting tools (e.g. scissors) will be used under supervision. Parents/carers are responsible for assisting their child where needed.
Is this suitable for all children aged 5–15?
Suitability depends on the child. Parents/carers should consider their child’s ability to safely use simple crafting tools.

ARTscape CIC may take photos and videos during the workshop to support our community work, including promoting activities and funding applications. If you do not wish for your child to be photographed or filmed, please inform a member of the team on arrival. We will ensure your preferences are respected.
