Belly Dance Classes with Zubaidah

In these classes, we will learn the techniques and building blocks of Belly Dance, practice varied combinations and finish with a free-style improvisation, all to beautiful, inspiring music from the Middle East.
Complete Beginners and Improvers are most welcome, as after warm-up, we will start with one isolation ( upper body, torso, hips or arms) and then add on layers eg stepping, arms, levels, change and shimmies.
Did you know that Belly Dance is considered a good form of exercise by the NHS.

It is great for overall posture and flexibility, particularly for the spine, arms and torso.
On another level, it also improves balance, and coordination and is great for creativity as its roots are folkloric. It is, at its heart a social dance, coming from a place of heartfelt spontaneity and joy.

As well as many years teaching, performing and studying Belly Dance, Zubaidah is also an Actress and Drama Educator and loves to see people express themselves and shine through the creative arts.
She has performed in restaurants and at themed events for eleven years, attended many advanced classes and workshops and also holds a JWAAD certificate to teach Belly Dance safely.
She has previously taught at Hammersmith College , East Ham Gym, St Pancras Community Centre and from 2020 on Zoom.

What to wear in class

Zubaidah

I first discovered Belly Dance as a teenager whilst studying for a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Performance at Flinders University of South Australia. I was looking for inspiring ways to exercise and attended regular classes with two great Instructors in Adelaide, Marjolein and Lassa and. was instantly captivated by the beautiful Middle Eastern music and flow of the dance.
