Cotall Street Market feature: Mak Josh Warung

You know that comforting, home-cooked meal — the kind only a mom can make? That’s exactly what I’m bringing you: flavourful, authentic Indonesian food, made with love.

Hi, I’m Mak Josh – a full-time working mom, food lover, and someone who just can’t stay away from the kitchen. I moved to London from Bali in 2018, bringing with me years of experience in food and nutrition, including time in fine dining restaurants around the world.

Though I now work in the public sector, my heart is still in the kitchen. Every weekend at Cotall Street Market, I serve authentic Indonesian dishes made with local ingredients – home-style cooking that brings the flavours of the islands to London. Indonesia is made up of over 17,000 islands, each with its own unique culinary heritage. Through food, I share those stories – one plate at a time.

Each week I feature a new dish inspired by a different island, but there’s one dish that’s always on the menu: Rendang. This iconic beef dish from West Sumatra is slow-cooked for hours in coconut milk and spices like lemongrass, galangal, and chili. Tender, rich, and full of depth, Rendang is often served at family celebrations – it’s comforting, bold, and packed with tradition.

This isn’t a fancy restaurant – it’s a passion project, cooked from the heart. Whether you’re already familiar with Indonesian food or trying it for the first time, there’s always something here to surprise you.

Come hungry, bring a friend, and let me cook for you. You’ll leave with a smile and maybe even a new favourite dish.

Find us every Saturday at Cotall Street Market
Cotall St, London E14 6TL

Everyone’s welcome!
