September: Month of Transition and Renewal

September always feels like a turning point. The air cools, the days shorten, and a sense of new beginnings takes hold. It’s a month of transition and change, a time when we don’t need to wait until January to make resolutions. Instead, September gives us a natural pause to reflect, reset, and start fresh.
For families, it means children return to school and routines take shape again. For others, it might be the shift back into busier work schedules, or simply noticing the rhythm of the seasons change. Whatever stage of life you’re in, September is a reminder to ask: what do I want to do with this new season?
It’s not just about school runs and work deadlines, it’s about carving out moments to nurture ourselves, to connect with others, and to enjoy the richness of community life.
This autumn, our programme is built around one theme: arts and well-being for all. We’ve designed it with everyone in mind – children, parents, young people, older residents, and the wider community. From storytelling adventures and creative workshops, to calming yoga, live performances, and social gatherings, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
And the spirit of community doesn’t stop at our doors. Every Saturday, Cotall Street Market brings neighbours together just outside Poplar Union. Stalls brimming with fresh produce, flowers, handmade crafts, and delicious street food create a vibrant meeting place where residents and visitors alike can gather. It’s more than a market – it’s a weekly ritual of connection, a way to support local traders, and a chance to bump into familiar faces while discovering something new.
Take a look at our monthy programme and see what inspires you. This September, let’s welcome the season of renewal together—right here at Poplar Union.
