Black History Month 2020

2020 has been an historic year for Black communities throughout the world and has been a year of reflection, action and, crucially, change, though there is still so much work to be done. Poplar Union proudly celebrates Black histories, futures, artists and individuals throughout the year, however, Black History Month specifically gives an opportunity to not only think about the past, but how we can make a real and lasting difference through a variety of stimulating and, hopefully, change-making events and activities. We have partnered with incredible Tower Hamlets based organisations such as Women’s Inclusive Team and Numbi Arts as well as playwrights, musicians, actors and mental-health campaigners to bring you a high-quality, powerful, black-lead programme that will entertain, challenge and inspire.
