FRIDAY 23 OCTOBER // 7.30pm // Plumm // Live stream
eccentric – moody – romantic – dark – rich – eerie – poignant – warm – hybrid – vocal – soulful
Plumm is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer hailing from South London constructing mood driven soundscapes through her rich vocals.
With a fascination of the great female jazz and blues artists of the past; the sporadic but measured phrasing and tone of Nina Simone and husky, gritty timbre of Janis Joplin, Plumm’s inspiration from these heroes are reflected through a married theme of eclecticism in production and musical styles to create eccentric and rich sounds.
Dark and Jazzy vocals, Plumm’s coming at you with grit and soul. Live, Plumm’s shows have created a buzz within the ever growing London jazz scene with her varying arrangements; an ever rotating eponymous band, a one woman vocal pedal show and part of larger collectives such as Levitation Orchestra.
Plumm is also SOAS alumni with a degree in Ethnomusicology and a specialism in North Indian Classical music. Plumm released her debut EP ‘The Shed’ in 2018, recording mostly through her iPhone. Upgrading then with producer and artist Bienvenue to create the Neo Soul style single: “Who Know’s” Her newest haunting single – Pour in the Blue is out now.
After being invited to play a live set at BBC Maida Vale Studios with Moses Boyd for BBC 1Xtra and playing with Taylor McFerrin at Oslo in Hackney, Plumm’s headline show at The Jazz Cafe doing Massive Attack ‘s ‘Blue Lines’ album will be in 2021.
Friday 30 October – Mishra
