COVID Health & Safety Measures

Your safety is our priority. Here is an update on our safety measures we have in place at Poplar Union.

The below represents the safety measures being taken in response to the last stage of the government’s roadmap regarding Covid-19 restrictions. Whilst we appreciate some elements may differ from legal requirements set down by the government, we feel these rules must remain in place to ensure the safety of our staff, visitors and to prevent the spread of Covid-19. We politely ask all visitors to comply with the following and respect our staff when enforcing the rules.

Please have a read of the new changes we have in place:

When you arrive

Please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before your event start time. We encourage everyone to take a lateral flow Covid test before their visit.

Although not mandatory, we ask visitors to Poplar Union above the age of 12 and unless medically exempt to wear a face covering if they wish to throughout their visit to Poplar Union.

All Poplar Union staff and visitors are expected to frequently and thoroughly wash their hands with warm water and soap.
Hand sanitiser stations will remain in place throughout the building and we invite guests to sanitise their hands upon arriving and leaving the building.

Visitors are no longer required to sign into the NHS test and trace system or Poplar Union’s in-house system.

Contactless Sales & Ticket Booking

All events will continue to be pre-book only, though in some circumstances, we may allow payments on the door if absolutely necessary. By pre-booking, we are able to monitor capacities more accurately and reduce the need for queuing and congregating in groups on site when waiting for an event to begin.

We will aim to provide a contactless payment system for tickets and would urge all visitors to use cards as opposed to cash as much as possible.

We hope these safety measures and continued efforts will ensure visitors feel safe at Poplar Union.

Your event

We will continue to observe social distancing where possible throughout the building.

Seats will be placed slightly apart for events, unless customers have booked in groups, in which case either PU staff will group seats together ahead of an event, or visitors are welcome to move their seats closer to one another.

Please listen to any instructions or directions from our staff.

Once the event has finished, please remain seated until a staff member comes to lead you out using the one-way system to exit. Please ensure you maintain social distancing.

For each event, audience numbers will be capped accordingly to ensure you and our staff feel safe in the building.

Facilities

We have 6 toilets and 1 accessible toilet (with baby change) plus 4 additional toilets and 1 accessible (with baby change) in the café. There will be spot checks throughout the day/night to ensure they are clean and sanitised for use.

If our theatre bar is open, we will not be operating table service but invite customers to collect their own drinks from the bar. The bar will run on a contactless, card-only service.

e5 Poplar Bakehouse will be open when possible. You can find out more about their COVID-19 response and safety measuring by clicking here.

Our staff safety measures

All staff will take a lateral flow test regularly.

Spot cleans will continue to take place throughout the day/night including cleaning toilets, door handles, chairs, tables and all equipment used.

If you have a question or feel like a staff member is not abiding by COVID regulations, please let us know immediately.
