You Are Here: Poplar is a soundscape created by artist Hugh McCann, blending field recordings made in Poplar with conversations with local residents, and archival material about the area.

What to expect

You Are Here: Poplar will be played in darkness to create meditative space in which we can visualise and reimagine our own versions of Poplar. The piece aims to intervene in our fast paced and highly visual culture, and give space to reflect on the location from a range of familiar and unfamiliar perspectives.

A headphones based installation playing the piece will also be available in Poplar Union café 13-27 July.

Created by multidisciplinary artist Hugh McCann, this piece will be the creation of his one week residency at Poplar Union. Join Hugh for a work in progress sharing and Q&A on Thursday 5 July to meet the artist and to find out more about the project.
