Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.” Victor Hugo

June’s Sunday Assembly East End is all about the unique joy of music; exploring the premise that there is music in everyone, and we just need a little help to let it out!

They’ll be joined by Tony Haynes, co-founder and artistic director of Grand Union Orchestra, a pioneer and leading exponent of cross-cultural music making in the UK. He’ll be talking about what he’s learned from his long career working with musicians from all over the world, about music education and how we can make our own musical culture more inclusive, participatory and exciting.

He’ll be joined by Claude Deppa – a master trumpeter originally from South Africa, member of Grand Union’s musician collective and band leader of African Jazz Allstars and Horns Unlimited. Together Tony and Claude will be giving us a little sample of participatory, cross cultural music making! They’ll also be discussing their new project about music and migration What the River Brings.

Plus the usual singalongs, stories, shared wisdom and more, all followed by a cuppa.

*Assemblies are free to attend and runs entirely on donations. Please bring cash and support us if you can, to keep it free for those who can’t.

Sunday Assembly East End is an inclusive, secular congregation that celebrates life, in all its joyful, tragic, absurd and beautiful glory. Come together!
