What is the place of stories and storytelling in our lives? Are stories just for children, dreamers and escapists, or are they key to our understanding of the world, and our ability to change it?

Guests this month

Sunday Assembly East End will be joined by Anthony Mensah, a musician and proud crew member of the amazing Hackney Pirates, where he helps young people in need of support to build confidence, develop literacy and explore the high seas of their imagination! As well as telling us the story of Hackney Pirates, and how he came to set sail with them, Anthony will talk about the importance of recognising when the stories we tell help us, and when they hinder us, both as individuals and collectives.

You’ll also be treated to a delightfully strange story from Sam Rix, from storytelling and live music crew The Embers Collective!

Plus the usual live band singalongs, poetry, reflection, shared wisdom and all round community spirit… after which we’ll all live happily ever after. Maybe.

*** Assemblies are free to attend and run entirely on donations. Please support us if you can, to keep it free for those who can’t ***
