Ballroom dance has enjoyed a revival in recent years and is now one of the most popular dance styles around. With its grace, variety, and active social element, it’s easy to understand why it continues to capture the imagination!
Whether you’re looking to brush up your Quickstep, unleash your Foxtrot or are a complete beginner hoping to experience a range of new styles, come along to our Social Dance, make new friends along the way – and keep fit, too!
Please note, class on Monday 1 April will be held at the Linc Centre.
Ballroom Dance Taster
Within the ballroom taster class you will:
· Be introduced to standard ballroom dances (i.e Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango)
· Be introduced to Latin ballroom dances (i.e. Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive)
· Begin to learn the techniques of leading and following
· Have the opportunity to dance with a variety of partners in a social atmosphere
This class will consist of 1 hour 30 minutes of instruction, followed by a 30 minute social (timings may change as course progresses) where you will have the opportunity to practice the steps you have learnt in a social environment.
Popular Sequence Taster
Once the group is up and running with the basic steps learnt in the Ballroom and Latin sections, we will also include popular Latin and Sequence routines, which include these basic steps learnt in the ballroom class. These will include dances such as the Saunter Together, Mayfair Quickstep, Catherine Waltz and the Queen of Hearts Rumba to name a few!
Practice Makes Perfect
Our Social Practice sessions are the ideal way to put into practice what is learnt in the in the taster sessions! We’ll include music to practice all Ballroom and Latin Sequences and Line Dancing as required, making these classes interactive and fun!
