As part of our What’s Love Got to Do with It? season, Live in the Library presents an alternative Valentine’s celebration with special break-up sets from the Alice Phelps Trio.

Alice Phelps Trio

Inspired by the great love-lost songs of the American South, this accomplished trio will explore the delights of many wonderful blues musicians, such as Bessie Smith and Memphis Minnie. Alice Phelps, Joe and Robin can be found in many London basements, clubs and festivals, creating ambient, lilting, rhythmic harmonies with the harp allowing the bellowing husky vocals to be perfectly contrasted in a very unusual but beautiful way! Influenced by folk from near and far, Irish to Chinese, Alice blends this with non-traditional and blues infused melodies.
