Emma-Jean Thackray is an award-winning composer, producer, arranger, trumpeter, and a Red Bull Music Academy alumni.

Her recent WALRUS EP, described by Rhythm Section as “one of the most exciting and unique jazz records of 2016”, received great underground acclaim and frequent radio play, including from Gilles Peterson on BBC Radio 6 Music and on Jazz FM.

Throughout 2018, she is set to release new material and produce several unique concert experiences as part of a partnership with the London Symphony Orchestra and LSO St Luke’s.

Heavily influenced by world music, trance like loop music and electronic music, Emma-Jean carves her own sound world from electronic effects on her Trumpet, using pedals synthesisers and computer software.
She will perform with her quartet comprised of piano, tuba and keyboards, fusing sub-bass sounds with polyrhythmic loops.
